Bhagwan Dada
The title of the “first Bollywood male dancer” is also subjective, as there were several male actors who were proficient dancers and contributed significantly to the development of dance in Bollywood. One of the earliest male actors known for his dancing prowess was Bhagwan Dada. He was a multi-talented performer who gained fame in the 1930s and 1940s for his energetic dance sequences and innovative choreography. Bhagwan Dada’s iconic dance in the film “Albela” (1951) showcased his unique style and contributed to the popularization of dance in Indian cinema. While there were certainly other male actors who danced before him, Bhagwan Dada is often recognized as one of the pioneers of dance in Bollywood.
